Diamond Select Toys has kicked off a brand-new Darkwing Duck product line with a Gallery PVC statue, bringing Disney's beloved masked mallard hero into the company's accessible, affordably priced statue format. As of Wednesday, August 5, 2026, this represents a genuinely notable expansion for a character who has seen relatively limited premium collectible treatment compared to Disney's more consistently merchandised animated properties.
Darkwing Duck has maintained a devoted cult following since the show's original 1991 debut, its self-aware superhero parody tone and memorable rogues' gallery earning it a lasting reputation among fans of Disney's early-1990s animated afternoon programming block. A dedicated Gallery PVC statue gives that specific fanbase a genuinely collectible piece after years of comparatively sparse merchandise attention.
The statue follows Diamond Select's established Gallery PVC format, prioritizing an accessible price point and character-accurate sculpting over the more premium finishing techniques found in the company's higher-tier lines. Darkwing's signature purple costume, cape, and fedora give the format's sculptors a visually distinctive character to work with, translating the show's exaggerated animated style into a static display piece.
Despite its enduring fan following, Darkwing Duck has historically received considerably less sustained merchandise support than contemporaries like DuckTales, likely reflecting shorter original broadcast runs and less consistent syndication visibility over the decades since. That relative scarcity of official merchandise has made existing pieces from the character's original toy line genuinely sought-after among collectors, and a new statue release addresses real pent-up demand.
Diamond Select's Gallery PVC line has consistently proven well suited to translating stylized animated character designs into static statue form, and Darkwing's exaggerated proportions and bold color palette fit that established approach well. The format's affordability also makes it accessible to casual fans who might not otherwise invest in a premium statue for a comparatively niche character.
A company committing to launch an entirely new product line around a specific character, rather than a single one-off release, typically reflects genuine confidence in sustained demand rather than a speculative test. Diamond Select framing this statue as the start of a Darkwing Duck line suggests further releases are likely to follow if this initial piece performs well.
Diamond Select has steadily expanded its Disney-licensed Gallery PVC catalog across a wide range of properties, and Darkwing Duck's addition continues that pattern of finding genuine collector demand in Disney's deeper animated catalog rather than only its most obvious flagship characters.
If this initial Gallery PVC statue performs well commercially, it would strengthen the case for Diamond Select to expand into supporting characters from the show, similar to how the company has built out multi-character Gallery lines for other Disney properties. Longtime fans hoping for a broader Darkwing Duck collectible ecosystem should treat strong early sales of this piece as the clearest path toward that outcome.
Darkwing Duck's self-aware superhero parody format, playfully riffing on genre conventions the character genuinely embodies, gives him a specific kind of crossover appeal to collectors interested in superhero merchandise generally, not just Disney afternoon programming nostalgia specifically. That dual identity as both a beloved Disney character and a genuine superhero-genre entry broadens this statue's potential audience considerably beyond a narrow nostalgia niche.
Acrylic display risers give a Gallery PVC statue like this an elevated spot within a broader animated character collection. An acrylic modular case keeps the statue's bold purple costume detailing free of dust between viewings.

The Diamond Select Darkwing Duck Gallery PVC statue gives a genuinely underserved fan-favorite character his first significant collectible treatment in years. As of Wednesday, August 5, 2026, this launch could signal further Darkwing Duck releases if collector response is strong. Longtime fans who have waited for new merchandise now have a display-worthy piece at an accessible price point, and proper dust and light protection from day one will keep that bold purple costume looking as sharp as the character's animated debut. Longtime fans who have waited years for meaningful new Darkwing Duck merchandise should treat this release as a genuine milestone worth celebrating and supporting, ideally by pre-ordering early rather than waiting around to see whether a future restock ever actually materializes. Given how sparse the character's merchandise history has been until now, there's genuine reason to treat this Gallery PVC statue as a collector-priority pickup rather than a casual, low-stakes purchase.
