Funko's Halloween-season NYCC 2026 lineup saved its biggest horror surprise for an animated villain most modern collectors have never seen on screen.
Samhain, numbered Pop #2525, is a 1,000-piece limited edition drawn from The Real Ghostbusters animated series rather than the live-action films, and it was announced as a Funko NYCC booth exclusive.
The figure's oversized jack-o'-lantern head and flowing purple robe have already pushed pre-convention resale listings well above retail.
Here is what collectors should know about the design, the show it comes from, and what the early secondary market says about demand.
Samhain comes from The Real Ghostbusters, the animated series that ran from 1986 to 1991, a separate continuity from the Ghostbusters film franchise with its own character designs, villains, and visual style. The show's exaggerated, cartoon-first aesthetic is exactly what shows up in this figure's sculpt.
The design pairs an oversized jack-o'-lantern head with clawed hands, a flowing purple robe, and blue effect pieces curling around the upper body, giving it a much more stylized look than a typical live-action-based horror Pop.
Funko has released plenty of Pops based on the original Ghostbusters films, but Real Ghostbusters figures pull from a distinct licensing lane built around the animated series' own character likenesses rather than actor likenesses. That distinction matters for anyone trying to build a focused collection around one version of the franchise rather than mixing continuities.
Collectors specifically chasing the animated series' villain roster, rather than the films, now have a genuine NYCC-exclusive centerpiece to anchor that side of a Ghostbusters shelf.
Funko capped Samhain's production at 1,000 pieces, distributed through its NYCC 2026 booth at the Javits Center, running October 8 through 11. The figure carries a NYCC exclusive sticker consistent with the rest of the show's booth-only releases.
Unlike some of the weekend's other reveals, the announcement did not explicitly rule out a later online allocation, so collectors who missed the in-person drop should keep an eye on Funko's own channels for any follow-up release before assuming the secondary market is the only remaining path.
eBay listings for Samhain appeared before the convention floor even closed, with asking prices ranging from roughly $125 up toward $400 or more depending on the seller and listing format. Pre-release demand at that range signals real collector interest well beyond the usual NYCC horror-figure crowd.
Prices this early in a release's life tend to be volatile, and actual sold prices once post-convention allocation settles are usually more reliable than day-one asking prices from sellers testing the market.
Samhain's bright purple-and-orange palette stands out noticeably against the darker, more muted horror figures most collections lean toward, making it a strong visual anchor for anyone building a dedicated Halloween or animated-horror display. For a single-figure spotlight rather than a shelf of several, a EVORETRO Acrylic Case for Standard 4-Inch Funko Pop keeps just Samhain protected and front-facing.
Pairing it with other Real Ghostbusters-era releases, rather than film-based figures, keeps a themed shelf consistent in both continuity and art style.
Like the rest of the 2026 Fall Convention lineup, Samhain ships with Funko's micro-optic authentication sticker, which carries a unique code verifiable through Octane5. Given how quickly resale listings appeared, checking that code before paying a secondary-market premium is worth the extra minute.
A genuine NYCC exclusive sticker paired with a verifiable Octane5 code is currently the most reliable way to confirm a listing is the real 1,000-piece run rather than a reproduction or a mislabeled standard release.
Funko's broader Funkoween push at NYCC 2026 also included Pottsfield Pumpkin from Over the Garden Wall, a 500-piece Grail release, and Art the Clown from Terrifier, both aimed at the same seasonal horror-collecting window Samhain sits in. Samhain's 1,000-piece run puts it in slightly wider circulation than Pottsfield Pumpkin, but still well below a typical general-release Pop.
That context matters when deciding which Halloween-season piece to chase first if a convention budget cannot stretch to every option: Samhain's animated-series pedigree and oversized sculpt make it a strong standalone centerpiece even without needing the rest of the lineup to justify the pickup.
No, Samhain comes from The Real Ghostbusters animated series that ran from 1986 to 1991.
Funko limited the figure to 1,000 pieces for NYCC 2026.

Early eBay listings ranged from roughly $125 up to $400 or more before sold prices settled.
A figure already fetching hundreds of dollars on the secondary market deserves more than a shelf edge. The EVORETRO 6-Figure Acrylic Funko Case keeps Samhain alongside the rest of a growing Halloween lineup, fully visible and dust-free.
