Hot on the heels of Nothing But Blood, Mike Mignola is sending Hellboy back to Hell a second time in 2026 with Hellboy in Hell: Parade of Horrors.
This new two-issue Dark Horse miniseries teams Mignola with artist Márk László, previously known for his work on Hellboy and the B.P.R.D.: Time is a River.
The story follows Hellboy after Nothing But Blood's events, as he sets off looking for a drink and winds up witnessing Satan's funeral procession instead.
Here is everything confirmed so far about the creative team, the plot, and the release schedule for this second new Hellboy in Hell story of the year.
Mignola writes the story, with art by Márk László, colors by longtime collaborator Dave Stewart, and letters by Clem Robins.
László has said Mignola's version of Hell always felt like rich visual territory to him, and that the two found a gap between existing chapters where a new story could fit naturally.
Following Nothing But Blood, Hellboy sets off in search of a drink but instead finds himself in a cemetery witnessing a macabre procession in honor of Satan's death.
Not all of the demons in attendance are happy to see him after their lord's murder, and the funeral introduces a host of new characters haunting Mignola's version of Pandemonium.
Despite following Nothing But Blood in release order, Mignola has said Parade of Horrors actually fills a narrative gap closer to issue #5, The Three Gold Whips, where two minor dead-soldier characters first appeared.
That makes Parade of Horrors less a direct sequel to Nothing But Blood in-universe and more a separate pocket of unexplored time Mignola had been sitting on since the original run.
Issue #1 is confirmed for December 16, 2026, with main covers by László and a variant by Mignola.
Issue #2's exact release date had not been confirmed as of this guide, though retailer solicitation patterns point toward a January 2027 window; check your local shop's pull list closer to the date for a firm number.
László draws the main cover for both issues, Mignola provides the issue #1 variant, and Bridgit Connell draws the issue #2 variant.
That gives Parade of Horrors the same tight, four-cover structure as Nothing But Blood, keeping the chase simple rather than splitting attention across a dozen incentive tiers.
Dark Horse frames the two 2026 minis as a connected pair, with Parade of Horrors following Nothing But Blood in publication order even though its story fills an earlier narrative gap.
Reading them in that release order still works for new readers, since each is self-contained enough not to require the other to make sense on a first pass, and a current-age comic bag and backing board for each issue keeps both halves in matching condition either way.
A funeral procession gives Mignola and László a natural structure to introduce new demons without needing a traditional action setup, since a wake or procession is exactly the kind of setting where old grudges and new power plays surface on their own.
That structure also fits Mignola's established approach to Hell, where ritual and ceremony have always mattered as much as outright confrontation across the original ten-issue saga.
A December 16 release date lands during one of the busiest ordering periods of the year for comic shops, which can push retailers toward more conservative initial print orders on a non-ongoing title.
That makes a locked-in preorder more valuable here than it would be for a quieter release date earlier in the year.
Parade of Horrors arriving roughly two months after Nothing But Blood gives Mignola two genuinely distinct Hellboy in Hell stories in a single calendar year, after a full decade without any new material set there at all.
Whether or not either mini becomes a classic on its own, 2026 is already the busiest year for new Hellboy in Hell content since the original saga wrapped in 2016.

Not as of this guide; a January 2027 window is expected but unconfirmed.
It follows in publication order, but the story itself fills an earlier gap near issue #5.
Parade of Horrors closes out Mignola's two-miniseries return to Hell for 2026, and with issue #1's date locked in, now is the time to get your pull list in order.
